I used to do beta testing for these wonderful folks, way back when I used a Palm OS device heavily. As with anything Astraware, the quality is superb. After all, they have a team of dedicated beta testers like us.
Astraware has just released their self-titled board game, Astraware Board Games to the iTunes App Store. This game was previously released to other platforms like Palm OS, Windows Mobile and Symbian. Astraware Board Games (AWBG) consists of a collection of 8 classic family favorite board games. Included in the game is Chess, Backgammon, Ludo, Checkers, Reversi, Nine Men’s Morris, Snakes & Ladders as well as Tic Tac Toe, all thru an easy to use interface. Many of the board games include customization options and difficulty levels.
Specific to the iPhone/iPod touch version is touch, slide and accelerometer functions. Touch and slide to move your playing piece. If a dice is used in the game, just shake your device to roll it. Exclusive only to the iPhone/iPod touch version is the multiplayer feature using a local Wi-Fi connection.
The game is available now via the iTunes App Store for $4.99 each.
Here’s a demo clip of the game, including how the (impressive) Wi-Fi multiplayer feature works.
