Apple has just made some changes to the iTunes App Store’s interfaces, after much complaints from developers. This follows the previous enhancement to the App Store application within the iPhone/iPod touch.
Each category (except for Games) now sport a three-pane interface, with both Free Apps and Top Apps listing separated. The middle pane continues to highlight to most popular applications in the said category. The Games category has a slightliy different layout, highlighting New, What’s Hot
and What We’re Playing
categories to name a few. Being the largest category, Games are also divided into sub-categories like Action, Adventure, Arcade, etc.

Touchmeme highlighted the fact that there’s currently a bug with the popular apps listing. Sorting the apps by ‘Most Popular’ would result in the apps being listed alphabetically instead. Sorting by Name is already an option, however. These changes are very much welcomed and we hope to see Apple continue to work on improving the App Store. While these changes doesn’t much address the highlights of Twitterific’s developer, Craig Hockenberry, it does raise the chances of paid apps getting more exposure. The App Store has just recently recorded its 300 millionth application download and features more than 10,000 apps. More apps are added daily as we speak.
