Mobile SafariI was out looking for some accessories for my new aluminium MacBook and happened to stumble upon a Starbucks outlet. Having missed Starbucks for a while now (yeah, I know they are expensive coffee, but we need to pamper ourselves once in a while), I gladly placed an order and sat down with my iPod touch. A short while later and I’m surfing via the free Wi-Fi provided.

I can gladly tell you that Apple made the iPod touch for more than just music. Steve Jobs know that people want mobile browsing, and the majority of handsets out there can’t compete much with the iPhone/iPod touch’s built-in mobile Safari.

I’d like to share a few gems that I stumbled-upon while mobile-browsing with Safari on my iPod touch.

iconiTunes Gift Card

It’s Christmas! One More Tap wishes everyone a safe and happy Christmas.

If you happen to receive Gift Cards for the iTunes Store, then the following shopping guides should help you decide what to do with the credits.

iPhone 3GFirst off, Apple iPhone Apps posted a list of “20 Must Have Paid Apps“. The list covers everything from basic utilities to games and entertainment titles. My personal suggestions; get Air Sharing ($4.99), SimCity ($9.99), AppSniper ($0.99) [read my take of this superb app, here], Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D ($5.99) and Ocarina ($0.99). You couldn’t be more wrong with these apps!

If you like to try gaming on your iPhone/iPod touch, then head over and check out this post by Touch Arcade for the best games you could get. First, try Aurora Feint: The Beginning and PapiJump for free. When you are ready for more games, check out great titles (my own recommendation) like DropShip ($0.99), Trism ($2.99), Fieldrunners ($4.99) and the recently released Rolando ($9.99). Don’t forget to also check out Flick Fishing ($1.99), which I reviewed here.

Enjoy the holidays!

Not comparable to the App Store, the iPod Click Wheel Games category does get updated from time to time. However, recent weeks have seen Apple adding (after approval, I assume) more games to this less-noticed category. This week, we see three more new games being released. This seems to have become a weekly routine for the iTunes Store.

This week’s release sees titles from EA, Square Enix and Apple themselves. Titles released are, Trivial Pursuit, Crystal Defenders and Chinese Checkers.

Stephen Colbert - Another Christmas SongMerry Christmas everyone! It’s Tuesday, so let’s check what the iTunes Store has in store for us! As usual, the iTunes Store presents us with ‘Singles of the Week’ free downloads, which gives exposure to tunes that the iTunes Store team has been enjoying. Meanwhile, the Discovery Download series focuses on a different genre each week, giving tracks that they (iTunes Store team) think would be worth our attention.

Remember that these tracks can be played on your computer via iTunes, synced into your iPod or burned onto a CD for listening anywhere. If you have a device that is not compatible with Apple’s Fairplay DRM, then feel free to burn those songs onto a CD, and then re-rip them to remove the DRM. Note that although this is the recommended method, we do not condone sharing of music where its DRM has been removed.

Another Christmas Song by Stephen Colbert is this week’s Single of The Week. Get ready to be jazzed with Colbert’s recognizable and impressive voice, coupled with a big band instrumentation to present a set of humorous lyrics. This is the perfect track to start Colbert’s latest album, A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All. Check out the entire album if you liked the single.

AppSniperA friend of mine Twittered that the AppStore is relatively dangerous, to every iPhone/iPod touch owners. His suggestion that you browse the iTunes App Store when you are bored is very much welcomed, but beware that you might just spend unnecessary money out of this boredness! Why?

The App Store makes it so easy to browse for and purchase apps. What more, Apple licensed the 1-Click purchase methodology from big brother Amazon.com and have it built-in to the iTunes Store! And the App Store doesn’t just live in your Mac/PC within iTunes, you have it in your iPhone/iPod touch as well. It’s like having Walmart follow you wherever you may be.

If you find yourself addicted to the App Store and buying a lot of apps that you don’t eventually use, why not spend $0.99 (as of this writing) and get AppSniper by Manta Research instead? Read on to see my take on this wonderful application.
