Hello! It’s the day of the week again, so let’s check the iTunes Store for some freebies, shall we?
DRM-ed vs iTunes Plus continues to be played this week, so I shall link you all to the album tracks instead of the dedicated freebies page.
This weeks Single of the Week – tracks that the iTunes Store team has been enjoying features Alela Diane’s Dry Grass & Shadows. This free download has the guitar taking the spotlight while aided by some haunted female backing vocals and a light folk backing band. The ghostly tune of this song suggests some rough and rural sincerity that gives it an extra emotional weight. If you enjoyed this track, be sure to also check out Alela’s latest album, To Be Still. Note that To Be Still including this week’s free single are not iTunes Plus enabled.
Next up is this week’s Discovery Download. The iTunes Store puts the focus on a different genre every week and offers up a free track that they think is worth out attention. I guess Novalima’s Camote – this week’s featured track is really worth our attention, considering the 4.5 star rating that it garnered as of this writing. Camote features a booming, mid-tempo groove and is taken from Novalima’s latest album Coba Coba. Be sure to check out the full album if you fancy this track.
This week’s Music Video of the Week download features Metronomy’s A Thing for Me. If you like, do check out this 30-second preview which I’m hosting over at YouTube to ensure maximum compatibility. There are some free (kids) TV Show downloads this week. Check out Disney’s Aaron Stone. The show tells about 16-year old Charlie Landers who became the best Hero Rising video game player via his avatar, Aaron Stone. He was later recruited by an eccentric billionaire to help fight real crimes and real enemies. Watch as Charlie try to juggle his normal life of school, sports, girls and family while maintaining his super-secret identity. The first episode, Hero Rising, Pt. 1 is freely available in both High and Standard Definition downloads. Grab both if you like!
Another free kids TV Show this week is the season premiere of Sonny With a Chance starring Demi Lovato. Meet Sonny, a midwestern girl with a unique outlook on things, who has always used her performing talents and sense of humor to get her through life. It was only a matter of time before she gets discovered and was asked to become the newest cast member of “SO RANDOM”. Follow Sonny as she face the pressures of living up to her dreams to prove to herself and the world that she is up to the challenge. Episode 1 is entitled Sketchy Beginnings and is available for free in both High and Standard Definitions downloads.
