iDracula Lite, a stripped-down version of the hit title, iDracula – Undead Awakening has just hit the iTunes Store.
iDracula Lite is totally different from the full game. Just like everything April Fool’s this year, they have flipped the rules a little bit. iDracula Lite let’s you start a new game with a premium selection of weapons. You get the flamethrower, grenade launcher, crossbow, shotgun and the pistol. Now, here’s catch. Aside to 9,999 rounds of bullets for the (weak) pistol, you get very limited ammo for the rest of the weapons. Besides that, you won’t get any help – no reinforcements, potions or powerups. You are on your own.
Perks are there too, but they won’t be much helpful. Your only best bet is to save as many ammo for as long as you can.
My views: for a demo version of the game, this is a very interesting twist. We usually see developers release stripped down versions of their games thru samplings of the first few levels. iDracula Lite basically lets you sample (almost) the whole game from a different perspective. Other things I noted: new application logo, shorter duration for Chillingo’s logo, some promotional screens at the end of a game. They did not fix the screen orientation though, iPod touch users (especially 1G) will have to bear with the fact that playing with earphone attached would be a little difficult.
I’d really love to see the next update for the full version of iDracula – Undead Awakening to include this special mode. With the special circumstances around this mode, you’ll still brag on high scores, but also on how long you could survive with such limited amount of ammo.
