Bah! It just had to coincide with April 1st. A posting by Allan Dye over at Pocket Blog (Pocket God’s official home page) mentioned that the latest update for Pocket God which was submitted some time back has been rejected by the ‘Gods’ of Apple’s iTunes App Store approval team. And they gave a very vague reason for the rejection!
According to the blog post, Apple replied saying that the app has violated some “Apple Branding”. The reply came with a screenshot of the app with the menu open. What the developers could assume had violated Apple’s branding was the tilted iPhone (that represents the gravity option for the app) in the menu, which I highlighted in the screenshot here.
For the record, this is the first time that Apple has rejected an update for Pocket God. This has really become a bummer for everyone waiting eagerly for their fix in Episode 12: Something Fishy. So, to please the ‘Gods’ of Apple’s iTunes App Store approval team, the developers have fixed the tilted iPhone logo and resubmitted the app. They have also included an additional episode titled March of the Fire Ants, officially making this update a two-for-one. A surprise is also in the works.
Checking the comments further down the post revealed that Pocket God was to have an April Fool’s joke with this latest update, which Apple’s iTunes App Store approval team has now ruined – THANK YOU VERY MUCH, APPLE! Nevertheless, the now defunct April Fool’s joke will still be included in the updated app. Let’s cross our fingers so that the update gets approved soon.
Pocket God is available from the iTunes Store for only $0.99 a copy. We did a review of this great valued title recently and gave it a superb 4.5/5.0 Taps, check it out: Review: Pocket God
