Band of Skulls - I Know What I AmGood day everyone! Hope you enjoyed the weekend. Mondays are blues, but Tuesdays are when iTunes Store releases some freebies. So let’s go ahead and check it out!

Coming this week into the iTunes Store as the Single of the Week download is Band of Skulls’ I Know What I Am. Band of Skulls, comprised of Russell Marsden, Emma Richardson and Matt Hayward plays a ragged, rough and absolutely riveting take on rock ‘n’ roll. Fall for the band’s intertwining male/female vocals and jumpy, primal rhythms. If you liked this track, then do check out the full album, a weirdly titled Baby Darling Doll Face Honey.

UPDATED: iTunes doesn’t seem to update the FREE ON iTunes page this week, but instead chose to bury the free tracks within the Music category. Anyhow, I’ve updated this post to include the remaining two free tracks for this week.

Sacred Oath - Counting ZerosCounting Zeros by Sacred Oath is this week’s free Discovery Download track. This seven-minute track by four-man Connecticut crew who just returned after a two-decade hiatus will definitely please the headbangers crowd. Rob Thorne sings about the shattered state of the world while hitting your eardrums with some sweltering guitar. Check out the self-titled album, Sacred Oath ($5.99) if you like this track.

El Hijo De la Cumbia - Soy el ControlNext, Cancion De La Semana brings to us Soy el Control by El Hijo De la Cumbia. Emiliano Gomez – the DJ and producer hailing from Buenos Aires suburbs turns up the traditional sounds of a cumbia, stripping its sound down to the barest, rollicking rhythm and added an array dubbed-out effects, turntable tricks and otherworldly sounds to bring us this wonderful track. Remember to give the full album, Freestyle de Ritmos a look once you sampled this free track.

Friendly Fires - Skeleton BoyAs for this week’s free Music Video of the Week, check out Friendly Fires’ Skeleton Boy. The song’s good, but the music video is a bit weird. Check out the 30-second preview below, then head over to the iTunes Store to get the full track for free. If you liked this track, then feel free to also check out the self-titled album, Friendly Fires.

As of this posting, there are no other new freebies for this week that I can find from the iTunes Store. I’ll update this post when new ones appear, so stay tuned.

As mentioned earlier, the tracks you download are now in high-quality 256-kbps AAC encoded, with all the DRM shackles remove.

Oh, here’s our usual closing words, again. The freebies mentioned here are sourced from the US iTunes Store and may not be available in iTunes Stores of other countries. Check out the instructions here, How To: Create a US iTunes Store Account if you wish to setup a US iTunes Store account.

Go ahead and grab these free downloads as soon as you possibly can – they are almost always free for about a week or so before returning to their usual selling prices. Don’t just add them to your shopping cart. Make sure you check out! Hit this FREE ON iTunes page to check out the other free downloads that are not highlighted here! But I am seeing that many of them are being removed. Are they taking this away?
