Toki Tori is an upcoming platform puzzler for the iPhone OS. The game is being developed by Dutch developer, Two Tribes with Chillingo being the publisher. The game is slated to arrive in the iTunes Store in the coming few weeks.
Toki Tori is a port of the original game which appeared for the Nintendo Wii and was well-received. It was recently nominated for two IGN Awards in 2008. Releasing the game for the iPhone and iPod touch would only meant that users can now bring their favorite game with them wherever they go.
The game follows a young chick named Toki Tori, on a quest to rescue his younger siblings, still in their eggs. Toki Tori must pick up each egg on a level with the assistance of a set of tools such as the Telewarp, Freeze-o-Matic and InstantRock. Don’t let the game’s simple looks fool you. Being a blend of a platform game and puzzler, players are well expected to look and plan ahead during each level.
In order to bring the full Toki Tori experience to the iPhone platform, Two Tribes has adapted the game to take advantage of the device’s unique interface and features such as the touch screen and accelerometer. A new control scheme was developed in favor of the original directional control pad.
Given the previous acceptance of this game on other platforms, notably the popular Nintendo Wii, we are sure that this title will be another hit release. We’ll post a full review of the game once it hits the iTunes Store. In the mean time, check out the screenshots of the preview version below.
