Social Gaming Network, or better known as SGN, has just announced via TechCrunch, an upcoming multiplayer jet fighter game.
Looking at the number of screenshots released so far, the game looks very much like Namco Bandai’s Ace Combat series of games or even Sega’s rail-shooter, Afterburner.
Challenging Paramount Digital Entertainment’s recently released Top Gun, SGN’s title features graphics that are very crisp looking and way beyond those seen on other games so far.
The game will be released for free initially. Gamers will then eventually be able to purchase upgrades via iPhone 3.0’s In-App purchase feature. SGN promised to start a virtual online war with this title.
Michael Arrington of TechCrunch got a chance to play the game – check out his gameplay demo video below. If you notice, he’s got the afterburner on most of the time. And unlike Top Gun, this one will let you do some fly-by.
No mention of a release date yet, but it’s probably going to be out in about a month or so. You may send them an email at launch[at]sgn.com and they’ll let you know once it hits the iTunes Store.
SGN is the largest developer of social and mobile games. Their current network of games commands over ten million downloads on both the iPhone and iPod touch, and more than one million game plays per day across multiple social networking platforms including Facebook, MySpace and Bebo. Check out SGN’s other titles like Mafia: Respect and Retaliation, Agency Wars Lite and SGN Golf Pro in the iTunes Store.
Here are some more screenshots of the game for you to check out.
