VajaArgentinian Vaja Corp has long been known for their high-quality premium leather cases. Their list of products cover basically every iProduct that Apple has released.

Vaja i-Volution Top SP HolsterYou are in full control when it comes to getting a protective case from Vaja. Vaja’s “Make it Custom” feature on their site lets you choose from more than 1,000 color combinations to suit your taste. Each case is then hand-built and it takes about 20 days to complete.

With that many color combinations to choose from, you will be assured that the Vaja case you have are as unique as possible, making it truly yours.

Vaja sent me one with vibrant green as its main body color and what appeared to be reed yellow for its stripe. The SP series actually comes with a cool racing stripe that you can choose its color. The case has got a reinforced shell, together with a large flap that closes to cover the iPod touch’s front. Differing from its iPhone cousin, the iPod touch version of the case opens from the bottom instead of the top. I find this very natural as most of the cases I’ve had opens from the bottom.

Vaja i-Volution Top SP Holster - FlipLet’s talk about the material used. The i-Volution Top SP uses Caterina leather as its main ingredient. Soft to the touch, I couldn’t avoid the nice smell of leather that I sniffed it a few times the moment it arrived. Vaja quality means that there are no seams or stitching – I wonder how they did it. You’ll very soon notice the Vaja logo on the front, as well as the repeated word “Vaja” on the interior.

If you happened to order your case with a light combination of color, then be prepared to know that it is more sensitive to dust and wear, when compared to other darker colors.

Vaja i-Volution Top SP Holster - SideInserting the iPod touch into the new holster case proved to be a daunting task. I’m not saying that negatively – the case fits the iPod touch snugly that any extra milimeter that you add to your device will cause the case to deny entry. I had to remove the invisibleSHIELD that happened to be on the iPod touch for it to go in.

Once it’s in, it fits naturally. The cover closes with no extra effort required. Access to the volume controls are available thru a larger cut out on the left hand side of the case, while your headphones plug in to the bottom as if the casing’s not there. However, since the cover’s flap fits to the bottom of the device, you’ll have no access to the connector port unless the flap cover is opened. One thing I really liked about the case is that it doesn’t restrict access to the touch screen like the other cases that I’ve had.

Vaja i-Volution Top SP Holster - FrontLooking at the photos of the i-Volution, you’d probably see some stain. This is very visible only thru a camera. I didn’t notice most of the stain until I saw the photographs myself. As mentioned earlier, the case does attract dust and dirt. As much protection that it gives to your device, the case does require care and protection too, just like any leather product.

If you are looking for a leather case to fit your new iPod touch, I’d strongly recommend the Vaja series of cases for the quality and protection provided. However, at a very steep price starting from $85 onwards, this is sure a luxury case. Check out Vaja’s web site for more on the i-Volution Top SP holster and customise your own unique case.
