Good Tuesday, internet! I just gave the FREE ON iTunes page a quick look and yes, they are definitely back. I’m not sure why the iTunes Store team failed to update that page last week. Nevertheless, let’s check out what’s in store for us.
First is our Single of the Week download. Check out Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked by Cage the Elephant, a five-member group from Kentucky, who caught the attention of the iTunes Store team, all thanks to their roots-y blues-rock number. This four-piece country pop act was formed in Nashville last year and they have been quickly assembling their debut album. The group is made up of brothers Tom and Mike Gossin, Rachel Reinart and America’s Most Talented Kid 2002 winner, Cheyenne Kimball.

Hello! It’s the day of the week again, so let’s check the iTunes Store for some freebies, shall we?
DRM-ed vs iTunes Plus continues to be played this week, so I shall link you all to the album tracks instead of the dedicated freebies page.
This weeks Single of the Week – tracks that the iTunes Store team has been enjoying features Alela Diane’s Dry Grass & Shadows. This free download has the guitar taking the spotlight while aided by some haunted female backing vocals and a light folk backing band. The ghostly tune of this song suggests some rough and rural sincerity that gives it an extra emotional weight. If you enjoyed this track, be sure to also check out Alela’s latest album, To Be Still.
