nin: accessApple’s in hot water again. Their recent act of approving the disgusting Baby Shaker app, then removing it with an appology has not taught them any manners.

Latest app to fall victim to the idiotic approval process is none other than an update to the official Nine Inch Nails application dubbed nin: access. It turned out that no new content was actually added into the app, but some minor bug fixes here and there. Yet, the ‘Gods’ over at Apple’s App Store still blatantly rejected it.

nin: access - ScreenshotFans of the band have spoken out against Apple in the band’s official forum. Trent Reznor has this to say in return. Watch his words:

Everyone – let me be clear. I love Apple products and as goofy and out-of-touch as their app approval process/policy is, I will still use them because they work 1000X better than the competition. This is not a debate, it’s a fact. The iPhone is THE most elegant, modern smartphone at this point in time and it’s perfect for what we want to do with the NIN app – except for the ludicrous approval process, and that’s what I want to draw attention to.

Android is cool, but nobody has an Android phone. Blackberry is OK but the hardware is inconsistent and WinMo straight-up 5ucks b@lls. If Apple doesn’t get it together, we will most certainly make it available to the jailbreak community. I didn’t invest in this app to see it languish on the sidelines from an idiotic policy while this tour is in full swing.

TechCrunch has got more on Trent Reznor’s reply and response to the situation. It’s gets a little bit graphic, so be warned. I’m particularly hoping that Apple will finally listen to the developers cries. After all, it is these developers that helped make the one billion download and the iTunes Store a success. Oh, and about the comment on WinMo (I self-censored it) – I can’t agree more.

nin:access is Nine Inch Nail’s first official iPhone application that gives you full mobile access to the multimedia and community features of nin.com as well as a new way to exchange real-time messages and photos with other fans in your area. The application is available from the iTunes Store for free. Get your copy: nin:access

Pocket GodBah! It just had to coincide with April 1st. A posting by Allan Dye over at Pocket Blog (Pocket God’s official home page) mentioned that the latest update for Pocket God which was submitted some time back has been rejected by the ‘Gods’ of Apple’s iTunes App Store approval team. And they gave a very vague reason for the rejection!

Pocket God - ScreenshotAccording to the blog post, Apple replied saying that the app has violated some “Apple Branding”. The reply came with a screenshot of the app with the menu open. What the developers could assume had violated Apple’s branding was the tilted iPhone (that represents the gravity option for the app) in the menu, which I highlighted in the screenshot here.

For the record, this is the first time that Apple has rejected an update for Pocket God. This has really become a bummer for everyone waiting eagerly for their fix in Episode 12: Something Fishy. So, to please the ‘Gods’ of Apple’s iTunes App Store approval team, the developers have fixed the tilted iPhone logo and resubmitted the app. They have also included an additional episode titled March of the Fire Ants, officially making this update a two-for-one. A surprise is also in the works.

Pocket God - March of the Fire Ants TeaserChecking the comments further down the post revealed that Pocket God was to have an April Fool’s joke with this latest update, which Apple’s iTunes App Store approval team has now ruined – THANK YOU VERY MUCH, APPLE! Nevertheless, the now defunct April Fool’s joke will still be included in the updated app. Let’s cross our fingers so that the update gets approved soon.

Pocket God is available from the iTunes Store for only $0.99 a copy. We did a review of this great valued title recently and gave it a superb 4.5/5.0 Taps, check it out: Review: Pocket God
